Leo McRoberts, age 92, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born February 17, 1928, at Smile, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Taylor McRoberts and Mary Kiser McRoberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.
Leo is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Jewell Caudill McRoberts, whom he married April 18, 1953; one son, Leo Michael McRoberts and wife Gale of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Teresa Kay McRoberts and husband Stephen Palfrey of Bronxville, New York; four grandchildren, Lynn Marie McRoberts, David Michael McRoberts and wife Ali, Jessica Palfrey, and Ian Taylor Palfrey; a special great niece, Emily Workman; and other extended family and friends.
He worked for Dayton Tire and Rubber Company for 29 years and was a former heavy equipment operator in Dayton for seven years. Leo and Mary moved back to Kentucky in 1987 and he drove a school bus for the Rowan County Board of Education for 11 years before retiring.
In 1989, Leo purchased the old home place where he was raised. He loved the farm and enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler very much. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and many other sports. Leo was a member of Mt. Pisgah Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jack Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
COVID-19 restrictions will be observed.
