Larry "Woody" Vanhoose Obituary

Larry Charles “Woody” Vanhoose, age 73, of Thorn Trace Drive, Mt. Sterling, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, after an extended illness with Parkinson’s disease.

Born June 2, 1947, in Pike County, he was the son of the late Charley and Christine Fields Vanhoose.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Vanhoose.

Woody is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Mildred Bowling Vanhoose, and their three children:  Leonard Houston (Pat) Vanhoose of Locust, North Carolina, Michelle (Shannon) Picklesimer of Flatwoods, and Tabitha (Eric) Spurlock of Mt. Sterling; six precious grandchildren Lanaya (Chris) Dailey, Derek (Ashley) Vanhoose, Chuckie (Lindsey) Vanhoose, Breanna Picklesimer, Emma Picklesimer, and Landon Spurlock; and four treasured great grandchildren: Peyton Rose Dailey, Kendall Rae Dailey, Blakely Ryder Raine Dailey and Layla Grace Hill.

He is also survived by one sister, Susie Hoos; two nephews, Larry and Bobby; and one great niece, Chloe, all of Bonita Springs, Florida.

Woody was a loving husband, wonderful father, and best papa ever.  Our family was his life—and he was ours.  He was greatly loved and will forever remain in our hearts.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Windsor Care for the excellent care provided to our beloved Woody during the past 17 months.

At Woody’s request, no services are planned.
