Lana Gail Short, age 69, of Kannon Drive, Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born September 4, 1953, in Mt. Sterling, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Virgaleen Karrick Short. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Short, and one nephew, Chris Short.
She is survived by one daughter, Holly Howard and husband Kevin, and one son, Jeremiah Clayton Blevins and wife Jennifer, all of Bath County; two grandchildren, Kannon Howard and Luke Howard; two step grandchildren, Jade Bryant and Jacob Cray; one step great-grandson, Kolson Bryant; one sister-in-law, Karen Short of Mt. Sterling; nieces; great nephews; other relatives and friends.
Lana was a former bookkeeper for Blevins Trucking and a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was an avid reader, poet, animal lover, crocheter, and collector of perfumes and perfume bottles. Most of all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who was very proud of her family. Much time was spent nurturing her children and grandchildren in addition to painstakingly caregiving her mother and other family members. She will always be remembered with love and greatly missed.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Shawn McCarty presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
