Kevin Dwayne Baker, age 51, of Ypsilanti, MI, crossed over to the far side banks of Jordan with his faithful pups, adoring brother and the love of all of his family and friends (near and far) by his side early Saturday morning, January 30, 2021.
Kevin passed in the same manner he lived, determined to let those around him know he loved and cared for them; his one regret was leaving them behind. Kevin joins his parents, Thelma Faye (Kegley) and Earl Thomas Baker; sister, Deborah Ann, and many family members at the Big Campground in the sky where he will greet those he left behind with a “well howdy there folks” and a big wave of the hand when they arrive.
Kevin knew no stranger, loved being a tour bus driver, country gospel music, storytelling, playing cards, and most of all visiting with friends and family while camping. Although Kevin was raised in Belleville, Michigan, his heart and a large portion of family resided in Kentucky where he spent happy days and planned to retire.
Kevin’s battle with cancer was short; however, it was a heart attack in 2017 that rendered him unable to continue doing what he loved. It was the constant love and companionship of his best friend and brother Rick and their faithful pups, Linus and Shroeder, with whom he resided that encouraged him. The love and sacrifice between these brothers are an inspiration to all.
Kevin, a member of Belleville First United Methodist Church, leaves behind too many loved ones to list and will be missed more than words can express.
Family and friends are invited to reminisce, grieve and support one another on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Brother David Carter presiding. The service will be livestreamed beginning at 11 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page.
Kevin will be laid to rest at Mabry-Kegley Cemetery in Elliott County.
