Kathy Manning Mullen, age 85, of Morehead, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at her residence after an extended illness.
Born October 20, 1936, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Goebel Manning and Ivora Vest Manning. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mullen on December 19, 2014; one granddaughter, Laura Nicole Adkins; one step daughter, Debi Star Johnson; and two step sons, Mike Mullen and Scotty Mullen.
Kathy is survived by one daughter, Donna Wallace and husband James of Clearfield; one granddaughter, Amie Caldwell and husband Cole of Morehead; two great grandsons, Cainan and Collyn Caldwell; and two step sons, Bo Mullen and wife Susan of Winchester, and Tommy Mullen of Irvine.
Other survivors include one brother, Lowell Manning and wife Jody of Morehead; three sisters, Sylvia McGaughey of Frankfort, Bobbie Ferguson and husband Gary, and Kay Manning, all of Morehead; a host nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
A nurse for 62 years, Kathy began her nursing career in at Daniel Boone Convalescent Center in Morehead (now Life Care Center) for 20 years, and retired in 2016, where she worked for Dr. Don Blair for 42 years, and is remembered as being a dedicated, caring and compassionate nurse.
Kathy loved her family, especially her granddaughter and great grandchildren. She was a member of Morehead First Church of God. Kathy was an avid shopper and enjoyed attending her great grandchildren’s baseball and basketball games, sewing, and push mowing her yard. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Halstead, Pastor Bobby Tackett, Jr., and Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Kenny Skaggs, Gary Ferguson, Jeff Ferguson, Cole Caldwell, Michael Manning, and Lowell Manning. Honorary pallbearers: Bo Mullen, Tommy Mullen, James Wallace, Lowell Glen Manning, and Ryan Manning.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
