Karen Sue Henderson, 52, of Burley Way, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on February 26, 1969, the daughter of Wanda Brashear Samuels and Willie Lee Samuels, who preceded her in death. She was a beloved preschool teacher, a graduate of Morehead State University, and a deeply missed wife, mother, and sister.
Karen is survived by her husband, Eddie Henderson of Mt. Sterling, and her son, Eddie Tyler Henderson, of Mt. Sterling. She is further survived by her sisters, Jackie Rogers of Stanton, Kentucky, and Paula Miller of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was a fantastic preschool teacher and helped many children learn and grow as people.
Starting her teaching journey at First Church of God, she taught there for eight years. She then worked as a daycare director at Gateway Church for one year. Her career flourished when she worked at Calvary Christian School and blessed the lives of many children, teachers, and parents during her eight years there. She was—and still is—deeply loved by those at Calvary.
She enjoyed making jokes, spending time with her husband and son, and watching cardinals and squirrels outside her window.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Calvary Christian School, 15 Redwing Drive, Winchester, KY 40391, with Daryl Ashby officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
