Juanita Ruth (Curtis) Kiser

Juanita Ruth Curtis Kiser, age 92, of Morehead, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025, at her residence.

Born November 3, 1932, at Ringos Mill in Fleming County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Bruce Curtis and Pearl Ellen Tolliver Curtis. Ruth was the last of her siblings to join their parents in Heaven. She was preceded in death by eight sisters, Sudie Oxley, Mae Heflin, Blanche Throckmartin, Bernice Harris, Fanny Rollins, Frieda Marshall, Marie Cora Dyer, and Lucy Bookout and four brothers, Morton Wendell Curtis, David Wilson Curtis, William Bruce Curtis, and infant Donald Thomas Curtis.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Charles Edward “Edd” Kiser on August 9, 2006; three sons, Rickie Johnson, Randy Johnson, and Phillip Eugene Kiser; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Johnson.

Ruth is survived by six children, Roger (Kathy) Johnson, Sue (Dave) Baker, Sharon (Hugh) Findlay, Libby (Allen) Adkins, Bruce Johnson, and Ashley Kiser; 19 exceptional grandchildren; 24 special great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Ruth owned Ole Seasons Trophy Shoppe and was former child care provider. She attended Little Mary Church. Ruth enjoyed her membership in various organizations, including the Morehead Red Hatters, Eastern Star Morehead Chapter #227, and the Dulcimer Club. Ruth donated her time to St. Claire Medical Center as well as made prayer cloths for her church.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Proverbs 31:10-31

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Jared DeAtley, Pastor James DeAtley, and daughter Libby Adkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Jacob Kiser, Brandon Lewis, Gabe Adkins, Eddie Johnson, Eric Johnson, Tami Crouch, Tami Crouch, and Juanita Benedict.  Granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.  

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
