Juanita Perry Weaver Obituary

Juanita Perry Perkins Weaver, age 84, of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.

Born March 31, 1938, in Morgan County, she was a daughter of the late Jack Howard Perry and Lou Alma Fisher Perry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glennis Perkins; her second husband, George Weaver; and six brothers, Charley Perry, Howard Perry, Jr., Billy Perry, Joe Perry, Raymond Perry, and Donald Perry.

Juanita is survived by four children:  Brenda Spellman (Bruce) of Lexington, Ohio, Nancy Jane Coble (Bill) of Berea, Dwight Perkins (Susie) of Clearfield, and Denvil Perkins of Clearfield; six grandchildren: Jamie Spellman (Aliscia), Jennifer Spellman (Stew Gerrell), Sara Perkins Staggs (Doug),  Justin Perkins (Cassandra), Kayla Perkins Meyer (Adam), and Kara D. Perkins; and ten great grandchildren: Gavin Spellman, Sydney Spellman, Chase Eshelman, Kolton Perkins, Dillon Perkins, Trenton Perkins, EmiJo Perkins, Lyric Cayden Deatherage, Milo Isaiah Deatherage, and Skyler Kingston Robinson.

Other survivors include one sister, Ruby Moore Carter of Clearfield, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as extended family and friends.

Juanita’s most important goal in life was serving God and caring for family and friends.  A long-time member of the Morehead First Freewill Baptist Church, she taught women’s Bible studies, children’s Sunday school, and children’s Bible studies for more than twenty years.  She was known for her remarkable knowledge of the Bible and her devotion to teaching and her passion for studying the Bible.  As a young child, she had a hunger to know the Bible and throughout her lifetime that goal was uppermost in her mind.  In her teaching, she kept information simple, welcomed questions, and always quoted scripture to support different points of view.  She had an extensive library in her home and enjoyed sharing this diversity with visitors in her home.  She had a positive forward-thinking outlook on life whose daily philosophy was “count your blessings.”

Juanita enjoyed all kinds of people while working in retail management at the Spinning Wheel, Morehead Sundry Store, and Ben Franklin.  She was also a former employee of Morehead State University and Walmart.

Juanita loved her family unconditionally and will always be remembered and sadly missed by her devoted family and dear friends.
