Joyce Carol Riley Loper Garrett, 79, of Center Street, Morehead, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020, at St. Joseph Mount Sterling Hospital.
Born December 23, 1940, in Greenup County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Riley and Edith Mangus Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” Loper, an infant sister; a brother, Mondel Riley; and two grandchildren, Misty Loper and Jeremy Loper.
She is survived by three sons, Eddie (Susie) Loper and Tim (Teresa) Loper, all of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Heath (Anita) Loper of Morehead; one daughter, Carol Loper (Eddie) Ison of Morehead; one step son, Brian Loper of Clearwater, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Robert Jarvis of Columbus, Ohio, and Junior Jarvis of Portsmouth, Ohio; six sisters, Rosie Cooper of South Shore, Geraldine Sears of Paintsville, Ruth Plank of Morehead, Donna Wilburn of Ashland, Patty Helterbrand and Betty Jo Riley, both of Portsmouth, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, going to yard sales, and listening to gospel music, especially Jimmy Swaggart.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Butch Kelsey officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
