Johnny "John" Stamper Obituary

Johnny “John” Wade Stamper, age 65, of Salt Lick, formerly of Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 20, 2026, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.

Born January 31, 1961, in Mansfield, Ohio, he is the son of Ruth Ann Cline Stamper of Salt Lick and the late Bobby “Bob” Allen Stamper. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Allen Stamper, Jr. and Anthony “Tony” Lee Stamper.

John is survived by his loving wife, Donna Kay Whitt Stamper; four children, John R. Stamper and wife Anna, Cody Stamper and wife Kayla, and Tabitha Stamper Flanigan and husband Jacob, all of Olive Hill, and Nathaniel Skaggs and wife Jordan of Salt Lick; he fostered many children including Nicholas Perkins, Heather Perkins Evans, Shane Perkins, Daniel Fannin, Jonathan Elliott, and Christopher Elliott; and ten cherished grandchildren, Khloe Flanigan, Jacob Flanigan II, Zoey Stamper, Zander Stamper, Mia Flanigan, Benjamin Flanigan, Zaden Stamper, Kimberly Skaggs, Kyra Skaggs, and Kenzie Skaggs.

Additional survivors include his brother, Rick Stamper and wife Vickie of Huntsville, Alabama; his sister, Lisa Stamper McGuire of Morehead; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his church family.

John was the owner and operator of John Stamper Concrete in Olive Hill and Salt Lick for more than 40 years, as well as Stamper Tool Rental in Farmers. He held master certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and septic systems in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio. He completed the police academy at Collins Career Center in Chesapeake, Ohio. He went on to serve as a deputy sheriff and resource officer in Lawrence County, Ohio, as well as a vocational instructor at Collins Career Center.

John was a long-time and dedicated member of Solid Rock Apostolic Church in Morehead. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren—especially taking family vacations to Disney World and creating floats for the Fourth of July and Christmas parades.

John will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life and the source of his greatest pride and joy.
