John Travis Brown, of Morehead, KY, born January 19, 1976, beloved son of Rita Francis Fannin Griffith and Jack L. Brown, both of Sandy Hook, KY, died suddenly Sunday morning, July 10, 2022, after suffering an apparent heart attack while vacationing with family in South Carolina.

In addition to his devastated parents and step-parents, Tim Griffith and Vicki Greene Brown, Travis leaves behind a beloved son, John Gabriel Brown of Bradenton, Florida; two heart-broken sisters, Jacquelyn Nichole Brown of Sandy Hook, KY and Rebecca Francis Brown Oney and husband Jamie Oney of Grayson, KY; six nieces and nephews, Jackson Simmons, Joslyn Simmons and Kason Ray Brown of Sandy Hook, KY, Anna Oney and Ava Oney of Grayson, KY; two stepsisters, Brook Rice (Jeff) and Sarah Griffith; step-niece Cameron Rice; and step-nephew, Ian Rice, all of Grayson, KY, and many saddened aunts, uncles and cousins.  Travis was the grandson of the late Ray and Frances Brown and Thurman and Eva Fannin, all of Sandy Hook, KY.

A graduate of Elliott County High School, Class of 1994, Travis graduated from Morehead State University in 1998.  He was employed by Larry Fannin Chevrolet for a number of years, where he made many friends.  In recent years, he has been a supervisor with the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice.

Travis made many, many friends during his life’s journey.  He was always kind and a faithful friend to all and was loved by all.  He always had the quickest wit and could make you laugh no matter how you were feeling.

Among his most special friends he would want to mention are Chuck Netherly, Kat Souza, Jen Barnes, Edwina Lyon, Candy Zeigler and Monty Markwell.  Also, his precious dogs—Frankie, Jack, and Max.
