John Walter “Dub” Gee, Jr., 76, of Tunnel Cut Loop, Morehead, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Born July 16, 1945, on Mocabee Creek, Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Johnnie Walter Gee and Linnie Johnson Gee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Candy Lynn Medina and Sharon Gee; one son, John Gee; five brothers, Emmit Gee, Louie Gee, Franklin Gee, Denver Gee, and Russell Gee; one sister, Malissie Aiken; and three brothers-in-law, Richard Merkle, Vernon Brown, and Buell Stevens.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Jean Click Gee, whom he married January 15, 1983; two children, Richard Allen Gee of Winchester, Tennessee, and Michael Thomas Smedley (Nicole) of Morehead, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother, George Gee (Carol) of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Olive Merkle of Phoenix, Arizona, Eula Stevens and Connie Lefebvre (Phillip), all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Odderine Gee of Florida; a special niece and nephew, Teresa Douglas and Doug Brown; and other extended family and friends.
He was owner and operator of Gee Sanitation for more than 10 years and was a faithful member of East End Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, collecting Case knives, boating on Cave Run Lake, attending local auctions, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in Gee Cemetery on Mocabee Creek.
Dub’s family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
