Jimmy Ray Howard, 64, of Christy Creek Road in Morehead, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born June 22, 1961, in Ashland, he was the only child of James A. "Jim" Howard and Mary Elizabeth Stevens Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Allen Stevens.
Jimmy is survived by his two children, Boone Howard (Summer) and Scout Howard, all of Morehead; a close friend, Barry Porter; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many friends.
He retired after 43 years of dedicated service as a route driver with Heiner’s Bakery and also served as manager of Eagle Auto Sales. Jimmy had a passion for life. He loved motorcycles, old cars, NASCAR, and UK basketball—but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his children.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Willie Sturgill and Tom Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Stevens Family Cemetery on Sheepskin Road in Sandy Hook, KY.
Pallbearers: Boone Howard, Blake Stevens, Barry Porter, R. J. Barker, Leroy Stevens, and Tom Carroll.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
