Jerry Blanton, age 57, of Salt Lick, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born January 9, 1965, in Paintsville, Jerry was a son of the late Melvin and Fay Spencer Blanton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Joe Blanton in 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Lilah Thompson Blanton, whom he married September 25, 2008, a daughter, Kayla Montalvo (Manuel) of Mt. Sterling; a step-daughter, Sheena Thompson of Salt Lick; two brothers, Gary Blanton (Diana) of Owensboro and Melvin Junior Blanton of Salt Lick; two sisters, Shirley Blanton (Sandy Estridge) of Winter Park Florida, and Debbie Botner of Beattyville; and six grandchildren.
Jerry was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 and Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 1834. He was also a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654, Morehead Shine Club, El Hasa Shrine Temple in Ashland, El Hasa Legion of Honor, and Hillbilly Clan #1 in Ashland.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his purple Harley Davidson, spending time on the farm and taking care of his dogs Stormy and Trouble. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 Chaplain Rufus Williams and Chaplain Bill Bolen officiating. Masonic services to be conducted by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654 and full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
