Jeanne Dobler Obituary

Born in 1935 in Cleveland, OH to Howard and Hazel Inks, Jeanne Claire Dobler, age 85, passed away on February 3, 2021, in Louisville, KY with family by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many.

Jeanne graduated from Euclid Senior High School in Euclid, OH in 1953 and was active in the Order of Rainbow for Girls, achieving the office of Worthy Advisor for Temple Assembly No. 28 in Euclid.  Upon graduation, she accepted a secretarial position at Oglebay Norton Corporation in Cleveland (Oglebay Norton owned the iconic SS Edmund Fitzgerald, the largest ship sailing North America’s Great Lakes at the time).

Jean married her high school boyfriend, Ron Dobler, in 1957 while living in Cleveland, OH and soon brought four children into the world.

The Dobler family relocated to Fairfield, IA in 1966 when Ron accepted a teaching position at Parsons College.  While in Fairfield, Jeanne continued raising her four children and was active in the local League of Women Voters, championing various issues important to families and the local community.

The Dobler family later relocated to Morehead, KY in 1972 when Ron accepted a position at Morehead State University.  While in Morehead, Jeanne was active with the Rowan County High School Band Parents supporting her children who all played for the high school band.  She was a confidant and counselor to many of her children’s friends as the Dobler household became a crossroads for teenagers during the 1970s and early 1980s.

When the Dobler household became an empty nest, Jeanne began work at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, joining the Administration Department as an Administrative Assistant.  She enjoyed working with the entire hospital staff as St. Claire continued growing as a regional medical provider.

Jeanne and husband Ron made many close friends in Morehead, which they considered home.  They both relocated to Louisville, KY in 2018 only to be closer to their children while managing health issues.

Jeanne is survived by husband Ron who is located at the Wesley Manor Nursing Facility in Louisville; two daughters: Susan Pierce of Louisville and Stacey Dobler of Milford, OH; two sons: Scott Dobler (Amy) of Bowling Green, KY and Steve Dobler (Annette) of Louisville.  In addition, there are three grandchildren surviving: Aaron Pierce of Louisville, Jacob Dobler of Louisville and Nicholas Dobler of Bowling Green.

Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead will handle arrangements.  A service will be held in Morehead at a future date with burial in Louisville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Manor Nursing Facility in Louisville or to St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead.
