Janet Renee (Jones) Johnson

Janet Renee Jones Johnson, age 58, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Morehead, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 13, 1966, in Morehead, Janet was the daughter of Nelson Buck Jones and Shelia Kay Hogge Jones. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Nelson “Buck” Jones on March 29, 1995, and her brother, Ken “Bubby” Jones on October 5, 2004.

Janet is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bruce Johnson, whom she married on February 14, 1981; two sons, Ed Johnson (Amanda) of Morehead and Eric Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Jenni Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Blake, Dillon, and Henry Johnson; her mother, Shelia Kay Hogge Jones of Morehead; and one brother, Mitch Jones (Tami) of Morehead. 

Janet was a former child care provider in both Morehead and Columbus. She touched the lives of many children and families. She enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Janet will be remembered by those who loved her and will be missed by many.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers:  Fred Sposa, Ray Deem, Danny Black, Brian Blosser, Jimbo Crouch, and Tad Jones.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon until the service at 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
