James Leon “Jim” Scott, age 83, of Northfork Drive, Morehead, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2022, at his home.
Born February 25, 1939, in Eskdale, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Claude Scott and Lizzie Alice Ingle Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John David Scott; a brother, Alan Wayne Scott; and three sisters, Dorothy McClurg, Pat Amburgey and Betty Riddle.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marsha Ann Furnish Scott; one son, Richie and wife Marjie Scott; one daughter, Kim and husband Roger Fannin; one sister, Lydia Montgomery; and one uncle, Carl Ingle, all of Morehead. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Brett, Adam, Tyler, Sasha, Trace, Kaitlynn, Brianna, Colin, and Tabby, as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Jim was well known in the area. Years ago, he ran the bread route for Rainbow Bread and later was an EMT for many years at St. Claire Emergency Department and the Carter County Ambulance Service. He also was an employee at several area funeral homes including Lane Funeral Home, Ritchie Hunt Funeral Home and Globe Funeral Home. A Christian, Jim was a member of the Soldier Church of God for many years. He was always active in church activities and was a church bus driver years ago at Farmers Church of God. He enjoyed people and never met a stranger. Always community-oriented, he especially enjoyed working at the election polls. Jim will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Clifford “Tippy” Price and Pastor Jeremy Halstead officiating. Burial will follow in Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
Pallbearers: Tyler Scott, Colin Spencer, Adam Scott, Brett Quesinberry, Johnathan Hall, and Anthony Spencer.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
