James “Doug” Caudill, age 66, of Blair Ridge Road, West Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at his residence.
Born October 3, 1955, at his home on the CCC Trail in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Edward Eugene and Ruth Manning Caudill.
Doug is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shelly Simmons Caudill, whom he married on February 16, 1991; one son, James Caudill and Jenifer of Morrison, Tennessee; two daughters, Melissa Brown and Wes of Morehead and Renna Johnson and Jason of Olive Hill; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He also leaves behind two sisters, Kathy Eldridge and Sonja Caudill, and one brother, Steve Caudill, all of Morehead, as well as extended family and friends.
While residing in Michigan, Doug was a mechanic for Ann Arbor Transportation. After returning to Kentucky, he worked with his father at Caudill Body Shop on Christy Creek and later was employed as a machinist at Browning Manufacturing (also known as Sealmaster and Regal) for 40 years. He retired in 2019. Doug enjoyed working on his beloved farm, hunting, and fishing. However, his favorite pastime was spending time with his loving family and taking care of them. He was a devoted and loving husband, dad, and papaw who will be sadly missed and remembered with love.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. James Caudill and Bro. Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Ditney Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Thomas, Jack Thomas, Denver Lykins, Darrell Lykins, Caleb Johnson, Austin Caudill.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
