James Robert Ison, Jr., age 68, of Conroe, Texas, a native of Morehead, passed away December 15, 2019, at his home following an extended illness.

 

Born July 25, 1951, in Morehead, he was the son of James Robert Ison, Sr., and the late Dora Elizabeth Ison.  James lived in Morehead until he entered the United States Air Force in July 1970.  He returned home from Vietnam in 1971. James was a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654 and became a Master Mason on June 24, 1978.  In 2012, he retired from Emerson Corporation, where he worked 36 years. 

 

On August 11, 2012, James married the love of his life, Arlene “AJ” Ison.  After retirement, they moved to Texas where he lived his remaining years with Arlene “AJ” and his family.

 

James is survived by his wife, Arlene “AJ” Ison; his father, James Robert Ison, Sr., of Morehead; three sisters, Kay Byron and Becky Parker, both of Morehead and Diane Cook of Morrow, Ohio; two brothers, Tim Ison of Morehead and Tony Ison and wife Sue of Denton; one son, Christopher Alan Ison of Morehead; four stepchildren, Danny Fleetwood, Jr., and wife Trinity of Arkansas, Brad Cullen Fleetwood and wife Brittany of Texas, Cody Fleetwood and wife Becca of Texas and Ashley Holder of Texas.  James is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Ed Byron, Burt Cook, and Glennis Parker. 

 

A memorial service with military honors and Masonic rites will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
