Born September 26, 1946, in London, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Virgil Durham and Zelma McDaniel Durham Vickers.  He was also preceded in death by two half-brothers, Timmy Durham and Gary Lee Vickers.

James’s loving wife of 52 years, Cindy A. Caudill Durham, passed away on September 17, 2020.

James is survived by one son, James R. Durham (Dawnyel) of Tipp City, Ohio; four grandchildren: Kelsey Frost (David), Alan Durham (Hannah), Kasie Durham, and Jason Durham; four great grandchildren:  Hunter Frost, Ethan Durham, Lilliana Frost, and Remington Durham; one sister, Sue Subler of Versailles, Ohio; one half-sister, Nancy Blanton of New Lebanon, Ohio; one half-brother, Robbie Durham of Morehead, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.

James served his country during the Vietnam War and was a proud U.S. Army veteran.  He was an employee of Modern Industrial Plastics in Dayton, Ohio, for 30 years.  He was a hardworking, conscientious, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  Taking care of his family was most important to him.  Although he enjoyed all the family, he treasured the special times he shared with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and playing Euchre. He was of the Baptist faith.

At James’s request, all services are private.  Elder Brian Caudill will preside at a graveside service in Cranston Cemetery on Cranston Cemetery Road.
