James B. “JB” Boyd, age 80, of Pleasant Valley, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Life Care Center in Morehead.
Born January 9, 1942, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Ralph and Alma “Teddy” Dean Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Terry, on January 19, 2021, and son-in-law, Christopher Dean Terry, on January 30, 2019.
He is survived by one brother, Chester “Shorty” Boyd; four sisters, Judy Workman (Ronnie), Thelma Lewis (Robert), Brenda Litton (Jack), and Sue Ison; two step daughters, Mary Ann Stevens and Anna Lewis, all of Morehead; one step son, John Clark (Debra)of Soldier; eight grandchildren, Zach Jones (Aariel), Austin Terry, Jamie Hale (Tabitha), Shane Stevens (Emily), Jessica Staggs (Tony), Michael Clark, Zeb Clark, and Matt Clark; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
JB retired from Morehead Utility Plant Board and was a former employee of Bill Patrick’s filling station and Gene Brown’s wrecker service. He loved going camping, taking walks, and peppermint candy. JB will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was fortunate to spend the past year with the excellent staff at Morehead Life Care Center where he was treated with love, dignity, and respect.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Sunset Cemetery on Old House Creek Road, Christy Creek.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, nephews, Randy Day, and Gene Buckler.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Life Care Center of Morehead Activity Fund, 933 N. Tolliver Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
