James Edward Adkins, age 70, of Rodburn Hollow Road, Morehead, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Born August 11, 1950, in Sandy Hook, James was the son of the late Clyde and Maxine Adkins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Harve Adkins, and three sisters, Edna Turner, Jeanette Patrick, and Anna Ruth Lewis.
He is survived by two sons, Jason Adkins and wife Melissa of Morehead and Ryan Adkins of Morehead; three grandchildren, Preston “Rowdy” Adkins, Brayden “Junior” Adkins, and Layne Adkins; one sister, Yvonne Henry of West Liberty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
James had been a school bus driver in Morgan County, a former truck driver for Hinkle and a self-employed small engine repairman. He loved playing horseshoes and cornhole and enjoyed gardening, hunting ginseng, collecting guns and knives, and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed.
Private services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
