Iris G. Hicks Pettit, age 68, of Derby Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owingsville.
Born November 25, 1953, in Martin, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Avanell Fugate Hicks and the late Hubert Hicks. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Maurice Hicks, and two sisters, Dana Caudill and Rosemary McDaniel.
Iris is survived by her husband, Gene Pettit, whom she married June 22, 1994; her mother, Avanell Fugate Hicks of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; four daughters, Kristie (Norman) Williams of Wilmington, North Carolina, Stacy (Madhav) Adepu of Ladera Ranch, California, Gina (Danny) Williams of Morehead, Kentucky, Cheryl (Neil) Walters of West Liberty; one son, Jonathan (Marlina) Chapman of Danville, West Virginia; grandchildren, Lucas Chapman, McKayla Chapman, Christopher Dawes, Lindsay Chapman, Daniel Williams, Justin Walters, Elizabeth Walters, and Garrett Walters; and one great grandchild, Brooklyn Dawes.
Other survivors include two sisters, Deborah Hicks of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nora Hicks of Richmond, Kentucky, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Iris was a former director of the Martin Senior Citizens Center in Martin, Kentucky, a former employee of Ducksters Car Wash, and a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, and traveling with her family. She will be greatly missed and always remembered with love.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jess Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Chapman, Daniel Williams, Norman Williams, Danny Williams, Jimmy Pratt, Jason Caudill, and Garrett Walters.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
