Ida Belle Caudill Dillon, age 79, of Alexandria Drive, Morehead, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, where she had resided recently for physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Born February 3, 1940, on Brown Ridge in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Maggie Brown Caudill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Caudill; two sisters, Jewell Bolenbaugh and Ruby Terrell; and six infant siblings.
Ida Belle is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Eldon Ray Dillon, whom she wed December 24, 1966; one sister, Betty Gibson of Mansfield, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews, Peggy Leigh Terrell, Sandy and Wanda Dillon, Helen Dillon-Bennett, Mark and Mike Gibson, Tom and Gary Caudill, and Tim Brown, as well as extended family and friends.
Ida Belle retired from Morehead State University in 2002 as Administrative Secretary in the Department of Nursing. During her 34 years of service at the university, she held various positions in several departments including the University Bookstore, College of Business, Placement Center, and Grants and Contracts. Prior to full-time employment at MSU, Ida Belle worked for GTE and Allen’s IGA in Morehead and the Post Office in Beatty, Nevada.
Ida Belle was known for her ever-present smile and friendly personality. An outgoing person, she never met a stranger and would “strike up” a conversation with anyone. Ida Belle loved her family and making her house a home. She was an outstanding cook, thoroughly enjoyed decorating the home, and took great pride in her gardening skills. She also loved taking care of her pets, whom she considered family.
Ida Belle and Ray attended the Elliottville Baptist Church and Morehead First Freewill Baptist Church as long as health allowed. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the James W. Caudill Family Cemetery on Alexandria Drive.
Pallbearers: Tim Brown, Tristan Brown, Tom Caudill, Gary Caudill, John Helms, and Keith Pack. Honorary Pallbearers: Mike and Mark Gibson, Andrew Dillon, Michael Bennett, James Bowling, Sherman Johnson, and Shawn Wells.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
