Hubert "Duke" Porter

Hubert “Duke” Porter, age 83, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 20, 1938, in Carter County, he is the son of the late Roy and Edna Mabry Porter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Burl, Howard, Billy Wayne, Jackie, and Ralph Porter and one sister, Virginia Swanigan.

Duke is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ottie Faye Henderson Porter, whom he married December 20, 1960; two sons, Michael G. Porter (Brenda) of Carter County and Lowell H. Porter (Vicky) of Morehead; two daughters, Linda Porter Mabry and Brenda Porter Holbrook, both of Olive Hill; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Other survivors include two brothers, Roy D. Porter of Olive Hill and Danny Ray Porter of Grayson; three sisters, Catherine Bradley of Dry Branch, Ruth Ann Brown of Ashland, and Edith Fyffe of Campton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Duke was a retired truck driver and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Porter Cemetery on Henderson Ridge in Carter County with Brother Jason Johnson officiating. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

At his request, there will be no visitation.
