Hattie A. Salmons Utterback, age 75, of US 60 East, Morehead, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, at the St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after an extended illness.
Hattie was born May 18, 1947, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Boone Salmons and Winona Adkins Salmons Bradley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Byron Scott Dehart; two brothers, Luther James “L.J.” Salmons, and Lee Dale Salmons; and one sister, Carolyn Trent.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William Utterback, whom she married October 26, 1985; one son, Jamie Dehart of Morehead; four daughters, Heather Clark and Teresa Riddle, both of Morehead, Sharon Keever and husband Danny of Newborn, Georgia, and Karen Chandler and husband Pete of Madison Heights, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Ava and Abigail Clark, Taylor Brown, Blake Chandler, Alicia Fultz, Zachary Osborne, James Riddle, and Brittany Dehart; and five great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Boone Salmons of Wallingford and Robert (Bob) Salmons of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; and other extended relatives and friends.
Hattie was a homemaker and a former employee of Morehead State University where she worked in the ADUC Cafeteria, St. Claire Medical Center in housekeeping, and the Holiday Inn in Morehead for 13 years as a cook.
She enjoyed the outdoors and loved caring for her flowers, sitting on the porch, swimming, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered with love and greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Bailey Cemetery at Glenwood Hollow with Pastor Roy Lands officiating.
At her request, there will be no visitation.
