Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (M-14 rifle), and the Expert Badge (M-16 rifle).

He was a well-known self-employed painter and a loyal member of the House of Prayer since 1999.
