Harold Clell Fannin, age 79, of Rock Fork Road, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born November 18, 1946, in Elliott County, he was a son of the late Ernest Clell Fannin and Nancy Jane Simmons Fannin. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marcella S. Wagoner Fannin, whom he married on August 20, 1967, and who passed away on February 28, 2024; four sisters, Omega Virginia Lambert, Madge Nantz, Ruby Dixon, and Nancy Cooley; and one brother, Herman Fannin.
Harold is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth “Jane” Williams and husband Ryan of Morehead; one son, Ronald Lee “Ron” Fannin and wife Kieryn of Shelbyville; five cherished grandchildren, Kara Lyna Cooper, Bryannah Lula Rochelle Isaacs, Ryan O’Neil “Bub” Williams II, Tiarah Marie Andrea Fannin, and Karsen Jelaine Fannin; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Matthew Cooper and Karmin Nicole Cooper.
Other survivors include one brother, Paul Fannin of Spring Lake, North Carolina; one sister, Clara Taylor of Morehead; a special friend, Pauline “Polly” Stamper; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (M-14 rifle), and the Expert Badge (M-16 rifle).
He was a well-known self-employed painter and a loyal member of the House of Prayer since 1999.
Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing and coaching softball and baseball, and watching UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026, at House of Prayer, 600 Whispering Oaks, Morehead, KY 40351, with Brother Glen Day and Brother Brian “Charlie Brown” Adkins officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Stidham, Rex Shepherd, Patrick Cooper, Shane Henderson, Ty Paulding, and Austin McCloud.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
