Green Russell Miller of Morehead, 83, a retired Morehead State University Professor of Economics and former Department Chair, died at his home on January 18, 2023.
He was born March 10, 1939, at Kenvir, KY. Surviving him are his wife, Carolyn B. Miller; son, Russell W. Miller; brother, John Patrick Miller and wife Jane of Coppell, TX; a sister, Krista Lorene Miller of Austin, TX; and several nieces and nephews as well as extended family.
Predeceasing him were his parents, Clifford W. Miller and Lorene F. Miller; a daughter, Laura Marie Miller; and a brother, Clifford W. Miller, Jr.
Joining the MSU faculty in 1979, Dr. Miller earned his Ph.D from the University of Kentucky, his M.A. degree from the University of Oregon and the B.A. degree from the University of Texas-El Paso.
He had been active in several professional organizations, including the MidWest, the Missouri Valley, the Southern and the Kentucky Economic Associations, the Joint Council on Economic Education and the National Association of Economic Educators.
Before joining the MSU faculty, he had been an economics instructor at Transylvania University and had held various supervisory roles with Federal Reserve Banks in Texas. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army.
Dr. Miller had a curious mind and was a lifelong learner, an avid reader and sports fan.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, at St. Alban the Martyr Episcopal Church, 145 E. Fifth Street, Morehead, with The Rev. Mary Kilbourn-Huey and The Rev. Keila Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2835 Flemingsburg Road, Morehead. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Alban the Martyr Episcopal Church.
