Born March 4, 1944, in Elliott County, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee DeHart and Nellie Mae Trent DeHart.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlan DeHart and William Paul DeHart, and one sister, Edna Stevens.

Ray is survived by one son, Jamie Ray DeHart of Morehead; three daughters, Sharon (Danny) Keever of Newborn, Georgia, Karen (Pete) Chandler of Madison Heights, Michigan, and Teresa Lynn Riddle of Morehead; six grandchildren, Taylor Chandler Brown, Blake Chandler, Zachary Osborne, Alicia Fultz, James Riddle, and Brittany DeHart; and six great grandchildren.

Other survivors include four brothers, Edward DeHart, Garret DeHart, Wayne DeHart, and Coy DeHart, all of Morehead; one sister, Chelma Hall, of Morehead; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Ray moved from Elliott County at a young age to work at an automobile factory in Michigan.  In 1968, he moved to Morehead and worked at A.O. Smith Mfg. in Mt. Sterling until he bought his first truck.  Then, he became a self-employed truck driver from the mid-70s until his retirement in 2016.

Ray loved talking on his CB radio—his handle was “The Rifleman.”  He also enjoyed fishing, antiquing, flea markets and working on watches, CB radios, and tinkering on just about anything.   He will be greatly missed.
