Glenda Jean (Herron) May

Glenda Jean Herron May, age 80, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at her home.

Born August 12, 1941, in Muncie, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Glen Herron and Helen Simpson Herron.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Sherman May on May 21, 2012; one son, James Allen May on August 12, 2001; a brother, Wayne Herron; and a great-great granddaughter.

Glenda is survived by one son, Gardner May and his wife Katie of Morehead; a daughter-in-law, Helen May Puckett of Carter County, Kentucky; one sister, Alma Davis and her husband Denzil of Muncie, Indiana; seven grandchildren, James May II, Arlenda May, Amy May, Terry Adams, Jr., William Adams, Robert Adams, and Robin Caldwell; 29 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and other extended family members.

She also leaves behind special friends Helen Griggs, Beverly Powell and Viola Goodman, all of Morehead, Valarie Pennington of Menifee County, Patsy Copher of Hardinsburg, and Maxine Douglas of Carter County.

Glenda retired after dedicating more than 30 years of service as an environmental services supervisor for St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was a Christian and was baptized in March of 1967. Glenda was a member of Rock Fork Church of God Mountain Assembly and enjoyed reading, making crafts, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles.

She was a certified volunteer for the American Cancer Society program Look Good Feel Better. In 2018, she was recognized with the State Sunrise Award for her extraordinary service and commitment to the program and the lives of the women it served.  Glenda respectfully handmade turbans, scarves, hats, pillows, and medicine bags for ladies to make their days a little easier during their cancer treatments. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Dean Strong officiating.  Burial will follow in May Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Gardner May, Dewayne May, John May II, James May II, Amy May, Terry Adams, Jr., and William Adams. Honorary pallbearers:  Arlenda May, Darrell Puckett, George Freeman, and Allen Riley.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
