Georgia Nell Wood

Georgia Nell Masters Anderson Wood, age 96, of Cranston Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.

She was born January 3, 1927, in Rowan County, and was a daughter of the late Isaiah Jackson Masters and Lula Kirk Ball Masters.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Anderson; her second husband, Earl Wood; two sisters; and eight brothers.

Georgia Nell is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Brenda Anderson; one granddaughter, Mica Anderson Collins and husband Alan; three great grandchildren, Tiffany Collins, Tessa Collins, and Trey Collins, all of Morehead; and other extended family and friends.

Georgia Nell retired as office manager from Spring Grove Dairy and was a former employee at Cowdens Manufacturing and Case Industries. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.  Georgia Nell was initiated into Morehead Chapter #227, Order of the Eastern Star on September 25, 1951, and served more than 70 years in various leadership roles.  She was Worthy Matron for the Chapter and for more than 20 years served as Secretary for the Chapter.  Additionally, she served as Deputy Grand Matron, Grand Representative, and Grand Chapter Committee Member for the Grand Chapter of Kentucky. 

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, cooking, baking cakes, and most of all spending time with family. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the professional care provided by the nurses and other staff members at the Life Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. An Eastern Star memorial service will be presented by Morehead Chapter #227.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: Craig Anderson, Alan Collins, Trey Collins, and Jason Waltz.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
