Geoffrey Douglas Smallwood, age 56, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away June 21, 2025, at his residence in Morehead.
Born October 19, 1968, in Xenia, Ohio, he was the son of the late Larry David Smallwood and Charolette Howard Sexton. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Paul Sexton.
Geoffrey resided in West Liberty, Kentucky, for most of his life. He pursued a career in the military and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces having served in the Army and Army National Guard from 1985 – 1993. He was awarded the Sharpshooter Qualification Badge M-16 Rifle, Expert Qualification Badge Hand Grenade, and Army Service Ribbon. He enjoyed reading, camping, and woodworking.
Survivors to cherish his memory include his loving wife and best friend, Jodi Whitney Smallwood; beautiful daughter, Tami Smallwood of Bay Shore, New York; special nephew, Jayden Perry, currently enlisted in the Navy; and loyal brother, David Smallwood of West Liberty, KY. Others include stepsiblings: Jimmy and Kathy Sexton and Barbara Snyder, all of Ohio, Daniel Sexton of Morehead, KY, Timmy and Theresa Sexton of Sandy Hook, KY, Ralph and Brenda Sexton, Marvella and Steve Lewis and Lyss and Anna Sexton, all of West Liberty, KY. Loving nieces: Allegra Howard and Saylor Howard of West Liberty, KY, and Katie and Allison Kilgore of Morehead, KY. Loving Nephews: Joseph Hamblin and Cordell Howard (which Geoffry affectionately referred to as “varmits”) of West Liberty, KY.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Vernon Lewis and Bro. Timmy Sargent officiating. Immediately following the service, Morehead American Legion Post 126 will present full military honors at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Perry Cemetery, Blaze, KY.
