Gelana Martin Pennington

Gelana Martin Pennington, age 80, formerly of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019, at Windsor Care Nursing Home in Mount Sterling.

Born January 17, 1939, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Milt and Ottie Kegley Pennington.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Eddie Ray Martin, and her second husband, Glenn Pennington. 

Gelana is survived by two daughters, Donna Gail Martin Farris of Winchester and Gelana Claudett Martin Edie (Andy) of Morehead; one son, Milton Edward Martin of Morehead; two stepchildren, Keith Nelson Pennington (Robin) of Union, Ohio, and Michelle Renee Hatton of Morehead;  ten grandchildren, Jaclyn Farris Brogli (Ethan), Jayme Farris, Matthew Martin (Tabbie), Caitlin Martin, Dalton Martin, Vada Martin, Sara Martin, Jacob Edie, JuLeah Edie and Adam Edie; four step grandchildren, Angel Pennington, Rachael Pennington Riddle, Madison Hatton and Reagan Hatton; one great granddaughter, Farrah Brogli; and two step great grandchildren, Violet Rae and Benjamin Nelson Riddle.

Other survivors include one sister, Unadell Eldridge of Morehead; two brothers, Wilford Pennington (Barbara) of Morehead and Elbert Pennington (Virginia) of Fleming County, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

As a former traveling insurance agent, who never met a stranger, Gelana was known for her teasing nature and laughter.  She was also well known for her sewing talents, making prom dresses and decorating homes with her custom-made pillows and curtains.  She loved horseshows, car races, traveling and attending church with her late husband Glenn Pennington.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. 

Private graveside services will be held Friday, September 27, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Cemetery.
