Gary Lee Pettit, age 69, of Hungry Hollow Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 12, 1951, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late David and Bearl Haney Pettit. Besides his parents, a son, Gary Lee “Bub” Pettit, Jr., on February 18, 2018; a daughter, Kimberly Renee Pettit Fultz, on July 1, 2016; two brothers, Junior Pettit and Wayne Pettit; and two sisters, Patty Mynhier and Kathleen Staton.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie Jo Tackett Pettit, whom he married October 10, 1970; a daughter, Jodie Lea (Randy) Kidd; a daughter-in-law, Lindsey Barnes Pettit, all of Morehead; six grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; two step grandchildren; and his special poodle, LuLu.
Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Gene Pettit and Paul Pettit, and Judy Terry, all of Morehead, and several nieces and nephews.
Gary served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was a retired driver for Rainbow Bread Company and a former logger. He was a member of Charity Freewill Baptist church and enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Robert Kidd and Pastor Bobby Tackett officiating. Burial will follow at New Alfrey Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: Zach Arnett, Todd Arnett, James Arnett, Adrian Kidd, Randy Kidd, Tony Pettit, and Jonah Pettit.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
