Gary Lynn Cooper of Clay Lick Road, Morehead, KY, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2026, at his residence. Born on September 10, 1962, in Rowan County, he was the son of Paul and Flossie Sparks Cooper.
Gary graduated from Rowan County High School in 1980 and was a self-employed construction contractor. He enjoyed camping with family and friends and especially fishing. He could be found on Cave Run Lake early in the mornings reeling in a bass or two. Upon his retirement, he pursued his talent for woodworking and completed many original pieces. He planned, built and finished his residence.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Tammy Rigsby Cooper, and his children, Andrew Paul Cooper (Nick) of Bristol, Virginia, and Daniel Edward Lynn Cooper (Kevin) of Milpitas, CA; a sister, Sue Cooper Abbott (Dale) of Estill Springs, TN. Other family members include brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Tammy Rigsby of Centerville, OH, Sherri Rigsby Jackson of Morehead, KY, and Karen and Tony Pettit of Morehead, KY, and a very special mother-in-law he called Mom, Joyce Rigsby Black, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Gary will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
