Flavis Bertie McKinney

Flavis Bertie McKinney, age 80, of KY Hwy 519, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Mt. Hope Church of God in Morehead.

Born May 26, 1943, in Morgan County, he was the son of the late William “Harold” and Lorene Donahue McKinney.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Pettit; one brother, Elbert Chester McKinney; and daughter-in-law, Linda Gail McKinney.

Flavis is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janette Gregory McKinney, whom he married July 9, 1963; two sons, Terry McKinney of Morehead and Bert (Amber) McKinney of Florence; three daughters, Patricia Williams of Morehead, Lorena LeBeau of Deluth Minnesota, and Belinda (Jim) McBean of Bellefontaine, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Other survivors include two brothers, Robert (Norma) McKinney of West Liberty and Burnel (Joyce) McKinney of Campton, many nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Flavis was a retired minister and logger.  He was a faithful member of Mt. Hope Church of God and he always put God first in his life. Flavis loved his Shih Tzu “Cubby” and enjoyed going to church, telling stories of his childhood memories, visiting with friends, and going to yard sales. Flavis cherished his family and will be sadly missed. 

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Burnel McKinney and Brother Phillip Lawson officiating.  Burial will follow in the McKinney Cemetery. 

Pallbearers:  Joe Binion, Justin Binion, Ricky McKinney, Nathan Williams, Steven Williams, Wesley McBean, Hayden McKinney, and Briar Butler.

Honorary pallbearer: Joshwuh LeBeau

Visitation is Monday, October 30, 2023, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
