Evelyn (Crosthwaite) McKinney

Evelyn Crosthwaite McKinney, 101, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at UK - St. Claire HealthCare.

Born January 24, 1924, in Yale, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Essie Ellis Crosthwaite. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe McKinney (2003), and her son, Oshel McKinney (2004).

Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jody “Mary Jo” and Lowell Manning of Morehead; two sisters, Joyce Rice of Morehead and Louise Bryant of Springboro, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michael Manning (Monica), Lowell Glenn Manning (Melinda), Ryan Manning (DeMeen), and Morgan Jackson (Doug); eight great-grandchildren, Darby Martin (Dillon), Delaney Manning, Noah Platt, Eli Platt (Tori), Connor Manning, Rylen Manning, Hayden Jackson, and Caris Jackson; and two great-great-grandchildren, Tamzyn Platt and Thatcher Martin. She is also remembered fondly by extended family and friends.

Evelyn retired from St. Claire Medical Center after 22 years of service in the dietary department, where she worked from 1963 to 1985.

She found joy in simple pleasures – beautiful flowers, raising luscious tomatoes, and gathering with loved ones during the holidays, especially Christmas.

In accordance with Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no public service or visitation. A private burial will be at Brown Cemetery.
