Evelyn Mabry Catron, age 86, of Ellington Loop, Morehead, peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at UK Medical Center in Lexington after an extended illness.
Born April 18, 1939, in Rowan County, she was the only child of the late Ollie Mabry and Sarah Conn Mabry.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dennis Arthur Catron, whom she married October 20, 1962; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Angie Williams Catron of Morehead; two cherished grandchildren, Matthew Catron and wife Danielle and Sarah Beth Hutchinson and husband Benjamin; and one precious great-granddaughter, Sophia Jo, who was a special joy in her later years.
A devoted homemaker, Evelyn dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose quiet strength and steady presence were the foundation of her home. She formerly worked at the Big Store 5 & 10 and at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. She also lovingly babysat and cared for family members throughout the years, always placing the needs of others before her own. Evelyn was of the Christian faith and lived her life guided by kindness, humility, and love.
Those who knew Evelyn will remember her gentle spirit, her warm heart, and the deep love she had for her family. Her life was a beautiful example of devotion, and her memory will forever be treasured by those she leaves behind.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother John Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Mark Lands, Clinton Curtis, Randall Catron, Matthew Catron, Ben Hutchinson, and Jeff Richardson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
