Eugene Joseph "Gene" Gregory

Eugene Joseph “Gene” Gregory, age 74, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday morning, June 15, 2021, at his residence after an extended illness.

Born April 7, 1947, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was a son of the late Jesse and Helen Green Gregory and was raised by Frances Gregory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Mullins; a grandson, Curtis Baker; and a brother-in-law, Archie Isaac.

Gene is survived by his wife, Barbara Lawson Gregory, whom he married February 14, 2009; one son, Eugene Gregory, Jr. of Maryland; three daughters, Barbara Gregory Bryant of Monterey, Tennessee, Dawn (Charlie) Messer of Wallingford, and Amber Archer of Clearfield; six grandchildren, Jacob Gregory, Heather McConnell, Jaylen Bryant, Virginia Bryant, Edward Stephens III, and Tiffani Stephens; and four great grandchildren.

Other survivors include one brother, Doug (Janice) Gregory of Versailles; one sister, Carol Isaac of Whitesburg; a special friend, Jenny Messer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam Era from 1964 to 1966. Gene was a retired coal miner in Letcher County and was a former employee at the Indiana State Department of Transportation. He moved to Morehead in 2008.

He enjoyed fishing, playing horse shoes, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jared DeAtley, Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr., and Ed Stevens III officiating.  The service will be live streamed on Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Stevens Cemetery on May Road with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers:  Charlie Messer, Edward Stephens III, John Roberts, Brandon Fultz, Dale Crouch, Braden Crouch, Corey Robinson, and Ed Stevens, Jr.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals,400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all contributions be made payable to Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, P.O. Box 388, Morehead, KY 40351 to assist with funeral expenses.
