Ernest Eugene “Ernie” Holbrook, age 72, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the home of his granddaughter, Whittlee Sagraves.
Born March 5, 1951, in Olive Hill, he was a son of the late Louie Ernest Holbrook and Mary Ellen Brinegar Holbrook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Ernest Eugene Holbrook, Donald Edward Holbrook, and Deborah Manning; three brothers, William Earl “Bill” Holbrook, Chester Clay Holbrook, and Terry Lee Holbrook; and one sister, Penny Fultz.
Ernie is survived by one son, James A. Holbrook of Clearfield; one daughter, Lisa Stewart of Morehead; one stepdaughter, Lisa Himes of Fleming County; 13 grandchildren, Ricky Crawford, Joey Beamon, William Crawford, Casie Ratliff, Whittlee Sagraves, Jason Davis, Ashley Longley, Tyler Davis, Corey Hurst, Shaylen Farris, Allen Wills, Hunter Holbrook, Michaela Holbrook; 9 great grandchildren, including special great grandson, Blake David Sagraves, and great granddaughter, Alice Rae Sagraves.
Other survivors include three brothers, Donald Holbrook of Owingsville, Gary Holbrook of Fleming County, and J. D. Holbrook of Morehead; special caregiver, Whittlee Sagraves of Clearfield; special sister-in-law, June Holbrook of West Liberty; and former wives who have remained close friends and part of the family, Beulah Holbrook of Morehead and Delphia Holbrook of Clearfield. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.
Ernie was a maintenance employee of Holiday Inn in Morehead for 36 years and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Morehead. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering around in general, and working on lawn mowers and small engines. He enjoyed family, especially spending time with his great grandson, Blake.
At Ernie’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral.
