Ernest Delbert Ramey, 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, Ohio, was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
He was born August 6, 1933, in Bangor, Kentucky, to Estella (nee: Foster) and Vernon Ramey.
Delbert proudly served in the United States Army from 1954- 1956. He was employed at General Motors in Elyria for twenty-three years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of West Ridge Baptist Church in Amherst. Delbert loved serving in his church as a Sunday School teacher and led the worship music. He loved singing and did so with several groups. He traveled often to churches singing and playing his guitar for the Lord, which was the joy of his life. Delbert was fascinated with waterfalls and hiking. He loved gardening and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Hazel Ramey (nee: Brown); his son, Anthony (Deanna) Ramey of Amherst; his grandsons, Jon-Paul (Robin), Seth Ramey (Jessica), Thomas Ramey, and Benjamin Ramey; five great granddaughters; his brothers, Orbie, Otis and Paul (Mary) Ramey; his sisters-in-law, Sue Brown, Wanda Hudnall, Susan Chullen (John); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Laxie (Ramey) Blankenship; his dearly beloved granddaughter, Tabitha Ramey Embrey; and his parents, Estella and Vernon Ramey.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
