Ella Madge Oliver Lyons, 71, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born June 28, 1951, in Sandy Hook, a daughter of the late William “Brack” Oliver and Ina “Evalee” Hall Oliver. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Charlie Lyons; and two nephews, Brian Fraley and Scotty Gilliam.
Ella Madge leaves her devoted family to cherish her memory: her husband of 45 years, Richard “Rick” Cable Lyons; five children: Shannan and Curt Hutchinson of Elliottville, Angie and Jeremy Bryant of Clearfield, Heidi Lyons and Jarrod Cline of West Liberty, Billy Lyons of Urbana, Ohio, and Darcy and Shane Williams of Urbana, Ohio; 16 grandchildren: Casey, Krista, Alex, Devon, Elizabeth, Colt, Landon, Brett, Mallory, Gage, Travis, Alyssa, Aaron, Morgan, Willow, and Brax; and 13 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include her mother-in-law, Lou Cable Lyons of Urbana, Ohio; two sisters: Becky and Greg Gilliam and Rita and Vaughn Fraley; and one nephew, Brad Fraley, all of Morehead and one niece, Kisha Geijer, of Frankfort, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Ella Madge earned the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Morehead State University and was a Registered Nurse for more than 32 years. She retired from St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Prior to St. Claire, she was the Director of Nursing at the Elliott County Health Department and a supervisor at Elliott County Nursing Home.
She was a Christian, puzzle enthusiast, avid reader and devoted TV watcher of TV sitcoms and Westerns. Most of all, she was dedicated to her family. She was the epitome of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was fiercely protective of everyone, especially “her girls.” She was generous to family and strangers alike. If a person’s needs required something like money or a place to stay, she provided help without hesitation. She was a blessing to so many people during her earthly journey and her legacy will live on in the lives of her family and friends. She will always be remembered with love.
At Ella Madge’s request, a private visitation will be held.
