Eileen Elizabeth (Rose) Hamilton

Eileen Elizabeth Rose Hamilton, age 76, of Story Branch Road, Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at her residence.

Born September 2, 1946, Eileen was the daughter of the late Dr. Arnold Rose and Dr. Viola Vail Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Rose and Donald Rose.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband of 58 years, Morley Hamilton; one son, Robert “Bob” Hamilton and wife Julie of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one brother, Dr. Austin Rose of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; three grandsons, Mack Hamilton, Tristan Hamilton, and Connor Hamilton; and other extended family and many friends.

Eileen was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada and had a love of horses and farm life.  She met her husband Morley on a horse ranch in Alberta, Canadian 1964, and they returned to Ontario, where she graduated Teacher’s College, and taught children on the Six Nations Indian Reservation and other local schools.  They settled a small horse and cattle farm in Burford, Ontario for many years raising a son, Quarter horses, Appaloosa, and Polled Herefords.  When she wasn’t assisting her husband in his automotive repair business, she wrote weekly editorial pieces for the local newspaper.   In 1987, she and her family relocated to Hillsboro, Kentucky, where she attended and graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work.  She embarked on a career in as a social worker for Rowan County Middle School and for the state, from which she eventually retired.  She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother, and a breast cancer survivor. Eileen was a passionate advocate for the well-being and protection of children and animals.  She was loved deeply and will be missed greatly by those touched by her caring and kindness.

Private services will be held with a public celebration of life to follow at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Eileen’s honor to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
