Edith Nona Adkins

Edith Nona Adkins, age 88, of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.

Born November 26, 1932, in Omar, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Roscoe Adkins and Hattie Nickell Adkins.  Besides her parent, she was preceded in death by three children, Louise Sargent, Winona Easterling, and Arthur Adkins; four grandchildren, Sheila Sargent, Ricky Sargent, Robin Easterling, and Kevin Easterling; two husbands, James Hale and Claude Baldridge; nine sisters, Sophia Adkins, Stella Mae Adkins, Winona Bradley, Frances Gilbert, Minnie Perry, Eva Ferguson, Anna Fay Maynard, Ivory Jervis, and Della Mae Moran; and three brothers, Clay Adkins, Roscoe Adkins, and Arthur Adkins. 

She is survived by her children, Mary Mullen (Jerry) of Salt Lick, Charles Hale, James Hale (Rhonda), Candy Marcum (Ronnie Caudill) of Morehead, Dave Hale of Lisbon, Ohio, Margaret Roff (KC) of Mesa, Arizona, and daughter-in-law, Nyoka Adkins of Dunlow, West Virginia.

Edith had 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.

She was a homemaker, but her greatest love was her mountain adventures hunting ginseng and mountain roots.  She often spent days alone in the mountains doing what she loved to do.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Elijah Wagoner officiating.  Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. The service will be live streamed on Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
