Earl Frederick Nelson

Earl Frederick Nelson, age 94, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at his home.

He was born October 16, 1929, in Ceredo, West Virginia, and was a son of the late Sammy Nelson and Hessie Ferguson Nelson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Earl is survived by his wife, Helen Marie Flannery Adkins Nelson, whom he married December 30, 2005; one son, Charles F. Nelson of Lake Elsinore, California; one daughter, Sharon Bond of Idaho; two stepchildren, Mike Adkins and wife Mallie and Diana Caldwell and husband Doug, all of Morehead; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Marines Corps in Korea for two years and was a business manager in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a member of Fraley Chapel Church of Jesus Christ.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Flannery Cemetery on Stark Ridge in Elliott County with Brother John Bradley officiating. Military honors will be presented at   graveside by Morehead American Legion Post 126.

Pallbearers:  Mike Adkins, Doug Caldwell, Danny Skaggs, Andy Skaggs, Cliff Gilliam, and Billy Adkins.

Honorary pallbearers:  Jack Nelson, Phillip Nelson, and John Jordan.

At his request, there will be no visitation.
