Dr. Ewell G. Scott

Dr. Ewell G. Scott, a respected physician, devoted husband, and cherished member of the Morehead community, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 23, 1940, in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Dr. Scott dedicated his life to caring for others.  After completing his medical training, he made his home in Morehead, where he practiced medicine for many years with extraordinary compassion and integrity.  His patients and colleagues remember him not only for his medical expertise but also for his kindness, humility, and unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of those he served.

Throughout his career, Dr. Scott worked tirelessly to expand access to quality healthcare in Eastern Kentucky.  His leadership and advocacy strengthened local medical services, and his mentorship inspired many young physicians to pursue lives of service and compassion.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Scott was known for his gentle humor, generous heart, and deep love for his family.  He found joy in spending time with those he loved and in giving back to the community that meant so much to him. 

Dr. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Scott; his two sons, Andrew (wife Morgan) and Adam (wife Nicole); and his beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Mitchell, Andrew, and Nina Scott; his brother, Dr. Ed Scott (wife Ann); and his sister, Lucy Pryor (husband Bob).

Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. followed by a celebration of life beginning at 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.  The celebration will be livestreamed at Northcutt & Son Facebook page at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, P. O. Box 441, Morehead, KY 40351 or the charity of one’s choice.
