Douglas A. Thomas

Douglas A. Thomas, age 61, of Morehead, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 28, 2021, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his loved ones.

Douglas was born on March 31, 1960, in Grayson, Kentucky, to the late Ival and Martha Frances Porter Thomas.  In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bevie Rae Colliver.

Doug is survived by his daughter, Shana Colliver and husband John of Montgomery County, Kentucky, and his son, Paul Thomas and wife Megan of Morehead, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Kylee Cooper and Mallory Colliver; and two grandsons, Brycen and Brecken Thomas. 

Other survivors include three sisters, Pam Arnett and husband Ova of Midland, Kentucky, Kim Thomas and husband Jim of Foxport, Kentucky, and Tabatha Harmon and husband Jeff of Wallingford, Kentucky; three brothers, David Thomas and wife Cindy, Wade Thomas and wife Debbie, and Rick Thomas and wife Kim, all of Morehead, Kentucky, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and his Walker Coonhound “Sally.”

Doug was employed at the Rowan County Detention Center as a Deputy for more than 30 years and looked forward to going to work each day and spending time with his co-workers who were close friends as well. Doug was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed coon hunting and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel with Brother Herbert D. Lewis and Brother Don Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Paul Thomas, David Thomas, Wade Thomas, Don Hall, Brandon Callihan, John Colliver, and Lester Withrow.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
