Douglas Keith “Big Doug” McDonald, age 78, of Peaceful Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
He was born August 22, 1946, in Ellensberg, Washington, and was the son of the late Keith McDonald and Montana Rose Hardin McDonald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Pacheco, and a brother-in-law, George Hall.
“Big Doug” is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maryanne “Annie” Wright McDonald, whom he married February 14, 1997; three sons, Brian McDonald of Washington State, Douglas Meuchel (Casey Johnson) of Salt Lick, and Zackary Meuchel of Morehead; five daughters, Julie Ray Oyster (Butch) of Washington State, Jona Burmeister of Pensacola, Florida, Crystal McDonald of Michigan, Natasha Meuchel of Morehead, and Brittani McDonald of Washington State; one sister, Robin Hall of Washington State; numerous grand and great grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 – 1967 and was a former machinist and truck driver for various companies. “Big Doug” enjoyed watching his favorite television show “Gunsmoke”, riding his Harley-Davidson, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson Cooper. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation of remembrance will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made payable to Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals to assist with funeral expenses.
