Donna Kay Tackett, of Glade Hill, Virginia, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, left her physical life to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2023, 76 years after her birth on September 9, 1946. Donna’s beautiful soul left this earth peacefully in her sleep while reading and with her children nearby.
Donna was the daughter of the late Bruce J. McCleese and Doris L. Stacey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Bobby E. Tackett, and her brother, Delbert McCleese
Donna is survived by her two sons, Charles Bruce (Gina) Tackett and Robert Ray (Yvonne) Tackett, all of Virginia; four grandchildren, Caraline Leia (Breanna Woerner), Elijah Ray, Bryce Wesley, and Robert Andrew Tackett; Donna’s sister, Dianna (Ralph) Bartles, Sisters-In-Law, Margaret Black and Carolyn McCleese, and her special Aunt Marie. Donna is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She worked as a fiery businesswoman during her earlier years, but really found her niche when she was out seeking treasures to sell in her store (Hazel’s Attic). Donna loved to read and was rarely without a book in her hand. She enjoyed gardening, swimming pools, music, card games, puzzles, and spending as much time as she could with her loved ones.
Donna was known for her very kind and loving nature. Her kindness, smiles, hugs and laughter touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Donna’s joy for life was an inspiration to everyone, including strangers who quickly became friends.
A private graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, the date of Bobby and Donna’s 60th wedding anniversary.
A gathering and celebration will be held at Adams-Plank Church (Cranston Road) at 1 p. m. Saturday, February 4, 2023. All are welcome to join us in celebrating this very, special person.
