Donald Ray Kegley, age 71, of Grab Nickel Ridge, Elliottville, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at his residence.
Born January 22, 1949, in West Liberty, he was a son of the late Chester Kegley and Geneva Winkleman Nolan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Kegley.
Donald is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Joyce Brown Kegley, whom he married June 29, 1968; one daughter, Genafae Kegley Howard and husband David of Fairborn, Ohio; one son, Curtis Dale Kegley and wife Kristina of Morehead; eight grandchildren, Kennedi Kegley, Alyssa Wilson, Dalton Kegley, Dawson Kegley, Cooper Kegley, Damon Howard, Craig Howard and wife Ashley, and Hailey Howard Blagg and husband Kyle; and five great grandchildren, Noah Howard, Austin Howard, Briella Howard, Ava Howard, and Aiden Blagg.
Other survivors include a brother-in-law, Scott Edens of Morehead; special friends and family members, Dude and Dovie Adkins; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends.
Donald was a farmer and retired from the Rowan County Road Department. He was a former heavy equipment operator in the coal mines of Eastern Kentucky and had served as Deputy Sheriff in Elliott County. He enjoyed farming, logging, and spending time with his family.
Funerals services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Gary Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Kegley – Nickell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Edens, Dalton Kegley, Dawson Kegley, Daniel Kegley, Randy Adkins, and Kevin Adkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
